    I have a filter called 'isReadable' - I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and most of you are in that group. The 'unreadables' become ignored (and moved out of the 'isReadable' filter) for one or more of the following reasons:


    • Posting several times a day without editing into one entry (don't hog the microphone dude).
    • Repeatedly post surveys, quizes, etc. and very little else.
    • Short random off-the-cuff thoughts that aren't actually interesting. Off the cuff thoughts are great - some people do it well, reflecting a certain level of honesty or wit. Most people just have off the cuff thoughts.
    • People who write lists.
    • Write as if the whole world revolves around you. Think about starting a community in your own name.


    Why not just remove? Some of these people I love dearly, but they really do write tremendous amounts of meaningless crap.


    Want to really impress me?


    • Condense your thoughts into one reflective post a week? (ok, thats asking too much...)
    • Whether it says 'journal' or not, you are writing to an audience, don't forget it.
    • Say more - with ten times less words!
    • A sense of truth and thoughtfulness in reflective posts.
    • A sense of radicality in deliberately provocative posts (no borrowed anthems please!).
    • A sense of play in irreverent posts.
    • You in your underwear..


    I do want to know what is happening in your life. I want to connect with you, by you permitting me to see the universal in the particulars of your life, and life within the universality in your expression.
